Can you be a bit more specific about the VIA controller bug. I have an Abit
KT7 Motherboard running a Athlon 900MHz CPU. I believe it has a VIA
controller.
For some time now I had been noticing disk errors in the Syslog (always on
/dev/hda)and had the occassional disk crash. The final straw came when it
trashed my root partition last week, so I purchased a new disk and replaced
it.
I am still seeing errors in Syslog - here is a typical message
Apr 16 21:45:47 kanger kernel: hda: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady
SeekComplete Error }
Apr 16 21:45:47 kanger kernel: hda: dma_intr: error=0x84 { DriveStatusError
BadCRC }
I need to decide what to do next. The motherboard does have another
controller wired as IDE3 and IDE4.
