dash package installation problem



I am trying to install the dash package, but gettig
following error:

#dpkg -i dash_0.4.1_i386.deb
..................................................
 .................................................
dpkg: error processing dash (--configure)
 subprocess post-installation script returned error\
exit status 1
 Error were encountered while processing:
dash

It seems that package is unpacked but not installed, 
I also tried the following command :
#dpkg --configure dash_0.4.1_i386.deb

But it seems this command is wrong... can anyone
please tell me whats wrong in this.
