Certainly plenty of options in that area. To get the feel of how Unix
and Unix like systems tick, I'd recommend "The Unix Programming
Environment" and "Essential System Administration". I also seem to
remember that Karsten Self had compiled a list of recommended reading at
one stage, should be googleable.
