BTW, keep in mind that many mov files you find will
be encoded in a quicktime format that is proprietary
and unavailable on Linux. Unless somebody else knows
something new that I haven't heard yet...


You can get the Quicktime player to work on Linux.
There is a commercial library that is WINE based and allows the player to run on Linux. It can be obtained from www.codeweavers.com and tried out for 30 days (I believe it is 30 days) at no charge.
