IPTables / Fwbuilder - eth0 gets stuck

Hi,

To quickly set up a firewall on my Debian box i've compiled a 2.4.14 kernel with IPtable support and use fwbuilder to configure the script.

For some reason the policy is only installed whenever it sees fit. I'm really new to this whole thing and don't really have a clue where to start.

I've tried the commmands below to some succes but not allways. 

#iptables -F
#iptables -Z

Also, at some point when i the policy does not get installed anymore it's not possible to do an ifup/down anymore. It's not related to some running process, the interface just gets blocked . . . any ideas ? This is way beyond me for now.

Can someone help me ?
