Video for Linux

Hello everyone,
I am having some trouble setting up my cam in Debain Stable.
It is based on the omnivision chipset and is producing a screen full of
jumbled garbage. I get the impression that the problem may be from the video
4 Linux module, by looking at dmesg and from stderr from Xawtv. I have
included text files for dmesg and the stderr for Xawtv. I realize that the
documentation for the ov511.o module (required for my cam) says to compile
Xawtv with a different Videosync and screen size, which I did, and got a
screen full of garbage. So I deleted the compiled binary and installed the
Debain package (which the included stderr is from), but this gives the same
v4l errors tho:). I also get the same screen of garbage from w3cam, which is
a cgi-bin for a webcam, (which the output of dmesg is from). Does anyone
have any idea what I could be doing wrong? I can't find anything on tuning
v4l anywhere!

                                                         TIA , Martin :-)
