So if it is a module you're using, it may be helpful to look in
/proc/interrupts and /proc/dma to see what's using the IRQ and DMA
channels that your module wants. You can also do something like
`modinfo -p rtl8139' to see what parameters the module can take. Once
you find a free IRQ/DMA you can usually supply that to modprobe/insmod
via those parameters.
If that all sounds too complicated, it may be that if you set "Plug
and Play O/S = Yes" in your BIOS, and your kernel has Plug and Play
stuff built into it, this will happen automatically. Don't quote me on
that though.
