Mh. I did the following:
apt-get install lm-sensors-source
There was a folder called lm-sensors in /usr/src/modules
inside the folder are the following files/directories
README.package debian i2c lm_sensors2
In the Makefiles I altered the path to my kernel-source
cd /usr/src/kernel-source-2.2.18pre21 # this is my kernel-source
make-kpkg clean
make-kpkg -revision=custom.1.14 kernel_image
make-kpkg -revision=custom.1.14 modules_image
dpkg -i kernel-image-2.2.18pre21_custom.1.14_i386.deb
dpkg -i lm-sensors-2.2.18pre21_2.4.4-1+custom.1.14_i386.deb
shutdown -r now
The modules are in /lib/modules/2.2.18pre21
NO device files in /dev
And I get the following errormessage.
debian:/usr/src/modules# modprobe i2c-piix4
/lib/modules/2.2.18pre21/misc/i2c-piix4.o: init_module: Das Gerät oder die Ressource ist belegt
Hint: this error can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
/lib/modules/2.2.18pre21/misc/i2c-piix4.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.18pre21/misc/i2c-piix4.o failed
/lib/modules/2.2.18pre21/misc/i2c-piix4.o: insmod i2c-piix4 failed
The manuals of lm-sensors are not very good concerning the debian way
of compiling the modules via make-kpkg. I am very confused. I am
randomly searching the manuals, because I do not really know what to
look for. :-(

Maybe. I am hesitating because you need some package out of
unstable/testing.
Ciao!
