Eventually this could be a prob. If nothing works, _purge_ the ppp package
and reinstall it.

diald does the pon/poff job automatically for you. But this means, that
you have no explicit control about the ppp connection.

If you want to execute any command after the ppp link is established,
/etc/ppp/ip-up is the right file.
