ich wollte dich schon nach deiner Debian-Version fragen. Da du
keine angegeben hast, bin ich mal von Stable/Sarge ausgegangen.
Und da sieht das so aus:
$ which mail
/usr/bin/mail
$ dpkg -S /usr/bin/mail
mailx: /usr/bin/mail
$ apt-cache policy mailx
mailx:

in 'man mail' steht folgendes:
mail [-eIinv] [-a header] [-b bcc-addr] [-c cc-addr] [-s subject] \
to-addr [...] [-- sendmail-options [...]]
mail [-eIiNnv] -f [name]
mail [-eIiNnv] [-u user]
The options are as follows:
-a Specify additional header fields on the command line
such as "X-Loop: foo@bar" etc. You have to use quotes
if the string contains spaces. This argument may be
specified more than once, the headers will then be concatenated.
Da du kein Debian hast, bringt dich das natürlich auch nicht weiter.
