USB-Stick



Hallo,

ich versuche hier gerade, meinen neuen USB-Stick auf einem amd64-Debian zum 
Laufen zu kriegen. Und obwohl ich gerade über eine Stunde mit google befragen 
und probieren beschäftigt war, bin ich noch keinen Schritt weiter:

fdisk -l bringt nur Partitionen in /dev/hda (die Festplatte), dementsprechend 
komme ich auch bei meinen Versuchen, ihn zu mounten nur zu einem "dev/sda is 
not a valid block device". Also anscheinend wird er nichtmal erkannt.

lsmod sagt:

hotplug habe ich installiert, ich  nehme an dass man da außer apt-get install 
hotplug nichts machen muß? Wenn ich den Stick einstecke, kommen weder in 
syslog noch in messages irgendwelche Meldungen :-(

Die relevanten Teile von dmesg habe ich unten angehängt.
Der Stick ist ein 1GB-Modell von Toshiba. Was mich etwas unruhig macht, ist 
folgender Passus im Handbuch: "Das Produkt arbeitet nicht mit anderen 
Betriebssystemen als Microsoft Windows". Ist das ernst zu nehmen, kann es 
also sein, dass ich gar keine Chance habe, ihn zum Laufen zu kriegen?

Ich habe (noch) einen selbstkompilierten Kernel 2.6.9 - ist der zu alt? Wenn 
es irgendwie ginge, würde ich das installieren eines neuen Kernels gerne auf 
die Zeit nachdem dieser USB-Stick endlich läuft verschieben...
