Bug#321094: generated updmap.cfg relicts in /usr/share/texmf/web2c (was: Bug#321094: solved, but not understood)

So it seems you have done two things together with the upgrade: Move
/etc/texmf/dvips to dvips.old, and move map files from there to
$TEXMFHOME. Furthermore, you had an error when you first tried the
upgrade that was unrelated to that (updmap.cfg in
/usr/share/texm/web2c).
We'll probably not be able to sort out now what you did in which order,
and what effects that had - we can only hope that if everything would
have been okay from the very beginning, the font setup would have
worked.
The only thing we should think of is a check for updmap.cfg in
/usr/share/texmf/web2c - a second user has reported that, and it might
be a general problem for people who had some older development version
installed.
