This turned out to be the key piece of advice, so thanks Andrew!
Disappointing in some ways, 'cause I found lots of documentation that
seemed to indicate DHCP was enough (and yes, I do know that DHCP !=
RARP). But that's neither here nor there...when I finally saw the
kernel booting up I was one happy puppy, let me tell you!
There was a minor gafuffle with configuring SILO, but after a little
playing around I finally got the SILO prompt and am running the
post-install setup as I write.
