No, rarpd does the name lookup, and sends the IP to the machine
requesting it. You should see requests in /var/log/daemon.log (btw, is
this running on an intel or sparc system?).

Yeah, you need to be able to send/recv broadcasts.

Should be right depending on the PROM version. You can create another
link without the ".SUN4M" extension to cover all basis.

So far, it looks like you understand everything pretty well. Get that
broadcast setup (the switch problem), and you should be good to go.
