Basically, this amounts to perpetually keeping obsolete packages. Is a
good choice?
If I'm not mistaken, packages dropped from one release to the next will
be displayed as "obsolete" in dselect and don't think it is unreasonable
to ask users to watch out for those when they do an update to a new
Debian release. In fact, it seems much preferable than displaying the
package as a choice to users who aren't stuck with it yet.
