There have always been, and always will be, a small subset of developers who
work against our freezes out of ignorance or even hostility. For the most
part, however, developers seem to be pretty good at acting in their own
enlightened self-interest, and not behave in ways that are guaranteed to
make the freeze longer by making it harder to release.
It's hard to measure this quantitatively because you don't have a real
control, but certainly my subjective experience is that this is very
effective.
