Thanks. The model num is Powerbook 3,2.

Yeah you're right about this, I was suspecting it was only radeon based fix.

This worked! Using the modeline now allows me to use r128! Thanks a a lot! An important note though, in xorg.conf one needs to add

UseModes "Modes0"

in the monitor section.
