filesystem drivers are in general complicated and tedious projects...  

IOW they are a pain in the arse, are almost universily not fun etc.
HFS+ is also apparently falling into a catagory of
not-much-fun-to-work-on filesystems.  

and given that there really isn't that much need[1] don't expect high
priority efforts.
