look on the bright side, your OpenFirmware supports a boot sector ;-)

here is a quik.conf:

partition=10
timeout=20

image=/boot/vmlinux-2.2.17
	label=linux
	read-only
	root=/dev/hda10

image="$boot /AAPL,ROM"
	label=macos

nvsetenv boot-device "$(ofpath /dev/hda)0"

that should work.
