And the old answer is, of course, that just as with other tools, you need  
support for that in the help system. It's not a question of data format -  
neither roff nor TeXinfo format support searching _directly_, so why  
should HTML?

And since there are several solutions for searching HTML-based hypertext  
available today, the only remaining problem is to put a complete system  
together. Haven't several people tried to do this for Debian?
