Adding the removal of empty directories would also be a great help... my first two bugs with my perl module packages were those two things, respectively, because I didn't know that each of those had to be taken care of... if I had known the empty directories were being built and packaged, I probably would have figured out they shouldn't have been there, but I had no idea what the .packlist was for, and thus didn't know I had to remove it...
