Right, I understand that. I just wanted to point out that it would be different for the final 3.8.0 release. Sorry that this change came so late. It should have been done earlier.
However, there will be still octave-cli installed into bin. Since the Debian Policy requires that every program in /usr/bin/ have a man page, I kept the octave-cli.1.gz link and patched the octave.1 man page to read:
Sure, there should be a man page for octave-cli. It exists for people who want to run only the command line version and don't want to load the GUI libraries at all. I know that it is a bit confusing to have octave and octave-cli which currently appear to do the same thing. Maybe in the future we'll have a better solution.
