The question is whether you need fast disks. Because I'm porting
Debian to a number of mips based wireless routers to which you can
connect a usb driver and run Debian on it. See
http://www.cyrius.com/debian/bcm947xx/ They are completely silent
(apart from the USB disk but a 2.5" disk is pretty quiet).
