I tried the settings from my working O2 on the newly installed one,
and it doesn't auto boot. Does it matter that my partition tables
look as follows?

Working O2:

  # fdisk /dev/sda

  Command (m for help): p

  Disk /dev/sda (SGI disk label): 64 heads, 32 sectors, 8682 cylinders
  Units = cylinders of 2048 * 512 bytes

  ----- partitions -----
  Pt# Device Info Start End Sectors Id System
   1:  /dev/sda1  boot        75      8611  17483776  83  Linux native
   2:  /dev/sda2  swap      8612      8681    143360  82  Linux swap
   9:  /dev/sda3               0        74    153600   0  SGI volhdr
  11:  /dev/sda4               0      8681  17780736   6  SGI volume
  ----- Bootinfo -----

   1: ide        sector    5 size  342528
   2: sash       sector  674 size  342528
   3: arcboot    sector 1343 size   60188

Newly installed O2:

  Command (m for help): p

  Disk /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target1/lun0/disc (SGI disk label): 141
heads, 62 sectors, 1016 cylinders
  Units = cylinders of 8742 * 512 bytes

End   Sectors  Id  System
   1:  /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target1/lun0/part1  boot        75

  11:  /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target1/lun0/part4               0
1016   8888543   6  SGI volume
  ----- Bootinfo -----

  ----- Directory Entries -----

  Command (m for help):

I noticed that arcboot didn't install on the new one. I can't
remember if it installed on the working one during install or if I had
installed it manually afterwards.
