Hi, Andreas.

QIIME is particularly sensitive to the versions of supporting software that it uses and I gave up trying to validate the APT-managed version that Tim Booth created for Bio-Linux. The reason I run QIIME under Bioconda is that I can install precisely the validated version of all the supporting software without any conflicts with the underlying system-managed packages. Validation of QIIME is particularly important when comparing results obtained by other people on different platforms.
