Okay - Got the issue fixed. There was a clue in /var/log/XFree86.0.log
which read like this:

(II) I810(0): Broken BIOSes cause the system to hang here.
              If you encounter this problem please add
                 Option "DisplayInfo" "FALSE"
              to the Device section of your XF86Config file.

Doing what was mentioned above got my X running fine. No more green screen.
