The perl script used for merging may look quite obscure. It is used to add
entries not present in the original pcitable, plus replace entries that
are not correct (at least if you have a "normal" kernel) by the ones
given in pcitable-knoppix.

Great. I can't set an exact timeframe for this, though, since February
is already full for me with other tasks.
