I think I wasn't too clear. Many of the DDs are not too fond of the
idea of having to deal with lesser DDs or contributors. Not having the
status of DD _because_ I didn't had a package in Debian was reason
enough to discard my project[1].

So I was pointing out that for many DD=package maintainer and not
doing that means you are a lesser human being.
