The new GNOME maintenance team
Hello,
I think you'll all agree with the fact that GNOME is a big and nice
project that needs a bit more work of maintainership.
For the moment the gnome packages are mainly maintained by people
working alone. The result is not too bad, but some of us think we could
do much better with more organisation.
So some maintainers have decided to create a GNOME Maintenance team.
These people already stated their interest in participating to such a team:
* Sebastien Bacher
* Ross Burton
* Michel Dänzer
* Andrew Lau
* Sven Luther
* Jordi Mallach
* Josselin Mouette
* Akira Tagoh
* Jeff Waugh
The team goal is to help to maintain all GNOME packages and to keep a
look on "extra" one (apps not included in the GNOME project but using
GNOME), giving a hand if necessary.
So that there is no unnecessary maintainer change, we only need to add
the team as an uploader for packages concerned.
We're also opening a project on alioth for the team, so we'll have space
to store the project on CVS/SVN, a web page, a place to put some doc
reference (like the GNOME Packaging Policy written by ross), etc ...
So if you think this team is a good idea and want to take part,
please let me know it now by sending a mail with your name and/or if
you have some packages concerned (ie: some package for which you want to
have the team as co-maintainer).
A first list (probably not complete) of packages which can be concerned
is attached to the mail.
Thank you for reading this mail. I'm sure most of you want the best for
GNOME in Debian and I hope you'll agree with the team idea.
Cheers,
Sebastien Bacher
