FWIW, I plan to do the same with my packages gtetrinet and gnome-mud. I
have no desire to maintain old, unsupported branches of these programs.
I don't expect gnome2 versions of these programs releasing anytime
soon, though.

I can see an argument for some gnome2 core packages, but I don't think
it applies to most of the individual apps.

We *really* need to get this issue unblocked, though. 2.0.1 is nearly
here and we are still asking ourselves what to do.
