I'm not sure about the debian mailing lists, but at least in the osgeo
one you can go into your mailman subscription settings an tell it
to not double-send it to you if you're already listed in the to: or cc:
fields. (that might even be the default setting)

if the debian mailings lists don't support that, maybe someone should
file a rfe, because it's a wonderful feature. :)
