But Debian is stable. And it will be released when it will be released. Praise the lord that Debian came up when punch cards are no longer in use anymore. That was stable, much more than CDs are.

Here is some input to you all from a simple salesman. Living
in the boring real world.

The argument about the old-fashioned, boring Woody desktop is
definitely valid when it comes to selling. So, what do we do?

There is a solution already installed at several schools with
Woody on the file server and Sarge on the thin client servers.
This is what we sell.

I can already hear the voices rising: A bastard! Not stable!
Not supported! No security team (or whatever you call it)!
How on earth can we do upgrades?

The truth is it works quite well in schools. Just as well as a
"pure" Woody. And it is much easier to sell.

Schools which are already running Woody will at some point
need to do an upgrade. If Sarge is "officially" released by
then I think there will be an upgrade procedure. If not,
maybe we will have to get some people to do something manually.
Or we can write a bunch of scripts or something. I wouldn't
know. But I don't believe for a second that a lot of these
schools will switch to Windows instead of paying a few hours
of consultancy to do the upgrade.

Loved your sarcasm, by the way. Quite refreshing.

Best regards,

Halvor
