Which causes confusion. I had to look it up when someone mentioned "Debian
6.0" yesterday, and I haven't ran debootstrap just once or ten times...
The number seems to be never used outside the front page and few pieces
of docs no one reads. I guess a good part of us doesn't know the numbers
either.
It's akin to knowing that 2000 < XP < Vista < 7 -- these do have underlying
real monotonic version numbers, too:

yet no one uses them either.
