This stuff did not even exist when Sarge was released. Half of userland would not fit this hardware, so who cares.
Everyone who would like to install a stable Debian release on hardware currently available for purchase.
And this non-free stuff is nothing to discuss about.
Good for you - people still want to use their hardware :)Not saying that Ubuntu is better, just that stable is utterly useless for everything but "reviving" old hardware.
