I don't know whether this discussion is good for anything, I think we
are just misunderstanding each other.  Maybe we should just stop - You
are arguing that the GPL is a good license for a library, but I'm not
arguing against it.  I'm only saying that it's "viral", but  that's just
a consequence of the idea of copyleft in my view, and it's intended and
just what you want when you choose GPL.
