 So, why are we not creating that directory in package installations
 then? Only local admin in some cases wants to use /tftpboot. I have
 now 13 persons opinions, and you are second voting for /tftpboot.
 All others use /usr/local/something, or /var/local/something and 
 would use /var/lib/tftpwhatever if only our packages would create 
 it and use it by default. 

 Again, there are no standards on this, and ancient limitations
 should not affect our guideline making. There will always be 
 discrepancy between vendor documentations and FHS for example
 untill they decide to follow FHS. It's up to the local admin
 to decide where to put the few boot images, and whether he
 wants to follow system defaults or vendor documentation.
