Hmmm... it's just a matter of pointing it too look at somewhere else...
The structure of the repository is very flexible, is just a matter of
using

deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian sid main/gnome main/kde main/base

or (inverting the organization)

deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian sid/gnome main contrib non-free
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian sid/kde main contrib non-free
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian sid/base main contrib non-free

ant it would work... This is how I'm doing with my reduced packages file
in the local mirror...

Yes (loosely like), because there is still only one debian, I'm just
giving the user the option to see the packages separated.

I mean, this will not allow someone to take base from stable and gnome
from unstable.
