Fix packaging problems, fix trivial > bugs, relay severe bugs upstream. Anything else is optional. But when there are people who want to care more and want take more responsibility than this basic ones... It's contraproductive for Debian to keep that package for yourself and you should hand it over to somebody who wants actively work on package. Ryan obviously had more time to maintain gdm in past (see release history of that package[1]), but 5 month between releases in very long time, especially when 2.4.4.x gdm branch was released 13-Sep-2003 and packaged 2.4.4.7 version was released on 31-Dec-2003 and packaged at 2004-03-29. Dates are from ftp.gnome.org[2] 1) http://packages.qa.debian.org/g/gdm.html 2) http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/gdm/2.4/ O. -- Ondřej Surý <ondrej@sury.org>
