We did something like this (for different reasons) when I was a
sysadmin at the University of New Mexico. We needed to name a new
group of machines, we wanted them to have some genus, and we named
them after beaches--but ones that don't immediately convey beaches,
like "utah".
We also had two terminal servers--bridges. We named them "toko-ri"
and "wheresthe". The latter one makes sense if you were in
Albuquerque in the late 1980s.
