I hear about that first time. I think it is not true. FreeBSD package
management do not remember anything about package selection - you just
install port and it can install others by depend. Ports that you
wanted to install and ports that installed by dependence do not store
any information if it was selected manually or not. At least it is so
for 4.3-STABLE.
