If it's a cool script that does a good job does that mean we don't
want it bacause it's only one package that doesn't do any *real* work?

Perhaps a distiction could be made between core developers and one off
contibutors? I'd like to have that mp3 organizer (theoretical as it
is) as part of the distribution if it's solid, but I like wise don't
think that the contibotor of this software should have the same access
to official resources as folks working on boot-floppies or something.

I agree, as someone who falls in this category somewhere.  With
limitted time resources the best "help" is to read -user and share
what you know.  On the coding front, I'm sure folks on this list would
be thrilled to get good patches along with the bug reports
sometimes...

Complex projects, like Debian, require coordination that can't really
happen if the people involved (the developers) don't spend the time it
takes to both do their part of the project _and_ keep up with the
project as a whole.
