Thanks for this helpful and informative post.  I now stand a mere 90%
chance (as opposed to 100%) of offending the next Croat or Bosnian I meet.

I should have known I got the alphabets backwards; of course the Serbs use
Cyrillic because that is the alphabet of their Big Slavic Brothers in
Russia.[*]

Whoops, now I probably stand a 100% chance of offending Serbs.

Okay, I'm going to bed before I say anything yet more stupid.

[*] See Russia's declaration of war on the Triple Alliance in 1914, and
Boris Yeltsin's berating of Clinton over U.S. involvement in Kosovo last
year.
