i'm sure that the maintainers of relevant packages would appreciate
patches from those who actually give a damn about static bins,
especially since it is likely that some of those maintainers have no
experience at all with producing multiple binary packages from one
source.

like most things, that's probably easy once you know how to do it...but
it's a pretty steep learning curve for a wishlist item of dubious value.


sorry to sound abrupt, but this was one of the sticking points of
the stupid flamewar 2 months ago - the few who wanted static bins
were saying YOU should do this, YOU should do that, YOU should change
everything to suit a tiny minority.  Strangely enough, when challenged
to get off their arses and and prove to everyone else that what they
wanted was of value, they vanished.
