The important point is not if something can have a negative connotation,
but whether people will make that association. Perception is everything.

If you take an OS that has a reputation of being confusing and hard to
use, a puzzle piece may not be the logo you are looking for.

Again, it all comes down to perception. The little devil figure they
use is about as menacing as Barney. Actually, Barney is pretty
scary to those with half a brain. :)
