Well, I should have been more careful with my language. I wasn't
suggesting editing "official" conf files, but rather a "configuration"
file which in this case isn't a conf file (though arguably should be
if the user's supposed/allowed to edit it). In any case, I think
Craig's suggestion to try to use bind to handle the problem is a much
better solution, especially for slow ppp links.
