In your .qmail files, a line beginning with a slash or dot and _not_
ending with a slash refers to a mailbox. A line beginning with a slash
or dot and ending with a slash refers to a maildir.

Maildir does have a lot of advantages. It works correctly over NFS. It
makes locking un-necessary. It guarantees that a message is complete upon
delivery. It supports any number of concurrent deliveries and readers
because there is no window for contention.
