US/Pacific is the zone you want.  I believe that only the US names the
timezones (but not all of them?).  For other countries, chosing the
zone based on a nearby city is appropriate.

The solution is simply to add both US and America in the zone-choosing
script.  Put a note that tells the user that he should choose US if he
lives in USA, and America if he lives elsewhere in North or South
America.
