Re: ITP: nekojishi -- Interactive visual novel with furries and Taiwanese cultures

Hi,

Forgive me of unsigned mail because I forgot to take my hardware PGP key from home.

The trailer video seems well-made. Do plans for a translation exist?

It has English translation in the game for now, and Japanese one should be on the works. Contributing translations should be okay I guess.

The reason why I suggest a non-free license is that I want to address that Nekojishi should have a proper license first. Also they explicitly claimed on the website that the game, works, arts, etc. cannot be used for commercial purpose, but can be used for creating works and selling them in doujin markets (which I believe can be translated as a limited commercial allowance).  I would like to respect their choice restricting the commercial use of the project.

It leaves me no surprise that the game is packaged with source code .rp along with .rpc right inside two archive .rpa.  `unrpa` can extract them, although it is not yet in Debian archive.

The thing which prevents me to package is that some of the sound effects in their games are not redistributable standalone, and worse yet some of them have no proper license, and some of them are left unattributed. See my previous follow-up for the issue.

I have packaged an installer to show that the installer-style package can be done:

This can also install NSFW version of Nekojishi with a debconf dialog.  If that is a good compromise, I can upload this first and solve the issues of redistributibility later.

Best regards,
Yao (Meow) Wei
