Would we need to ask Alastair to include that patch in gtk+2.0-directfb? If the patch can be applied there, this may work. If it needs to be applied elsewhere (in another debian package), I doubt it will be done.
yes, for sure this will affect libgtk+-directfb only (if mike can update gtkdfb 2.0.9), so Alstair will have to patch some sourcefiles and rebuild the udeb, but nothing more and i hope this won't be difficult/problematic.
I think in principle we should ignore or work around such bugs. We should of course check if any problems we find are still present in 2.6.8, but otherwise I feel we had better list minor issues as "known problems" than take away valuable time from our upstream that could be spent working on the newer version.
This is true, but i see the switch to GTKDFB 2.8.3 light-years away from us and so we'll have to stay with GTKDFB 2.0.9 months still. Those bugs in GtkTreeView are particulary annoying for the user and compromise a lot frontend's usability, so i tought that fixing them was worthwile.
for now now just let's wait and let'ssee what mike can do on this.. ciao Attilio
