Package: boot-floppies
Version: 3.0.22; reported 2002-04-16
Severity: important

Hi,

I set the type of all of my partitions to 0xfd ('Linux raid autodetect'),
but then dbootstrap wouldn't allow me to format the partition to either
ext2 or ext3, saying that no Linux partitions were detected.
Setting back the partition types to to 0x83 ('Linux native') works fine,
but I'd need 0xfd.

Regards,

Csan

Hehe.

Well, I did recently and it works fine. Dbootstrap rescans the
partition types and offers 'Linux' partitions as target.

Projects? These types are wrong for a pure filesystem, which is actually
created by dbootstrap.

So what then?

You imagine this situation:

Joe user (previously using LVM) boots the Debian disk, sees his PV
partitions and creates pure filesystem on them (killing VG contents).

My point of view is following:

Joe user (previously using LVM) boots the Debian disk, tries to
reinitialise a filesystem. Seems that LVM is not supportd, uses another
partition and can install lvm10 later.

Remember that LVM is designed to store data volumes for long time. How
likely is it that someone wants to kill a PV? Should we help him doing
so?

No, but you should befory trying to play a teacher.
